    Foiled rose.

Hi crafters,I’m back with another card from my foiling experiments. This one uses a Hero arts rose stamp, Minc reactive paint and pink Fab foil. I could have been more thorough applying the reactive paint but the rose is still gorgeous in pink foil. The sentiment comes with the rose stamp. I started by choosing pink and purple Arteza real brush pens to colour it with a water brush. I kept it soft as the foil is the star. After colouring I put it back in the stamping tool and selectively restamped bits with Versafine Clair glamorous to make up for missing foil. I noted while doing this, that the…

    Watercoloured foil card

Hi crafters, I wanted to use some of the pieces created in my foiling experiments to create cards. This one use number 5 attempt from this previous post. Today I was experimenting with Arteza real brush pens and a water brush. I scribbled on an acrylic block and picked it up with the water brush. I didn’t go direct to the card as it was just thin ordinary cardstock. After painting in between the foil I cut MFT bottletop letters and numbers from the speech bubble and put left over foil behind. The balloon is from Stamplorations. I cut it may times from scrap and glued them together with scrap…

    Disco Santa

Hi crafters, It’s Christmas in July at Simon says stamp challenge. Look at this cute Santa straight from the the seventies doing a John Travolta impression. I wanted a foiled background and had issues as you can see here. I decided to use this one anyway as I have no more red foil. This is the grunge version 😉 . Every disco Santa needs a disco ball, but if you can’t have that, a circle of card with homemade glitter paste will have to do. Now Santa needs to show us his moves so I made a wobbler. First I got some finer galvanised wire from the garage and wrapped…

I love foil, why doesn’t it love me?

Hi Crafters, Have you had those days where nothing goes quite right? I have tried foiling with a laminator but it was always blotchy on the foil and speckled throughout the background. I have been wanting those lovely results that others get.  I used a coupon to get a minc machine at a discount.  Today I tried it out. I wanted to do a foiled background for a Xmas card.  I have some Heidi Swapp products which I thought might work for stencilling.  I am going to show the results of each attempt and what I did for each one. All examples are the same light weight card stock. 1.…

    Experiments in homemade glitter paste

Hi brave crafters! You’ve ventured onto this brand new blog. I’m still working out how to do it so bear with me! I saw a post about making homemade glitter paste a while ago and have been waiting to have a go. The challenges at Scrapbook Boutique and Simon says stamp made me think now is the time. I wanted to do white for  the scrapbook boutique theme but I cheated as it is actually clear over white cardstock.  I had Atelier heavy gel gloss medium.  It is like acrylic paint with no colour. I mixed coarse and finer grade white glitter into it.  The medium looks white but dries clear…
