    Autumn birthday

Hi crafters. Today I tried distress stains and distress oxides on the gel press. I started by dabbing stains in autumn colours on the gel press and spritzing with water and taking a print. I also used stencils with distress oxides and pressed the paper on. I doodled in sepia ink using a nib , when it was dry. I stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday agapanthus set in ground expresso distress ink. I did some gold spatters. This was adhered to Kaisercraft paper to finish it. Cluck it!

Hi crafters. Just chicken in with a fowl card for you. 🙂 Enough bad puns, but I have chickens on my mind at the moment. Since I am experimenting with the gel press, I am accumulating paper with prints that aren’t suitable for cards. There was one with fall colours that I thought would make great chickens. I used the chicken from the Technique Tuesday cheeky chickens Stamp to stamp as many chickens across the paper as possible and then cut them out (ignoring the legs). I needed somewhere for my flock to frolic. I cut a piece of pale green striped paper and layered green on it with the…

    Keep calm!

Hi crafters. Just experimenting with using Arteza real brush markers on Bristol smooth paper today. I came up with this for The Cat’s Pajamas and Simon Says Stamp competitions. The sentiments in the TCP set  are great but perhaps this cushion better reflects the world! 🙂 I used various small stamps from TCP, MFT and mainly Flora and Fauna. These were stamped with Versafine onyx black and Versafine Clair inks, then coloured with Arteza markers and a water brush. Spaces were filled with Pitt pen dots. Keep Calm everyone! Happy crafting. Brown is the new black.

Hi crafters. A while back, Heather Telford did a post about sprinkling black brusho on a heat embossed background. The black breaks up into a multitude of colours. For today’s experiment I am trying brown – Lindy’s magical Bratwurst brown. I bought this thinking it should do the same thing as black since brown is made by mixing colours. I started with MFT typewriter text background in Versafine onyx black with clear heat embossing. I sprinkled the powder very very finely by rubbing it between my fingers (which are now a reddish brown 🙂 ). I then misted it with water. Where it has a little too much water the…

    Distressed thank you

Hi crafters, I used the same technique for the background as the last card. I kept this card in neutral colours using brown, green, grey and black stains. I decided to stamp Tim Holtz’s glorious bouquet on the top in Versafine Clair acorn ink. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I also stamped a small sizzix Bigz heart with the stamp and covered it with Nuovo crystal glaze. I am entering this card into Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Distress it.

    More rainbows

Hi crafters, I had quite a few triangles left from the previous card so I made another card. I also used the positive letters from the word dies. The triangles are from the Reverse Confetti tall triangles die and the letters from Tim Holtz Sizzix sentiment words, thin. Rainbow cards are great because I can give this to any age or gender. I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Make your own background.

    Rainbow triangles

Hi crafters, today I’m playing with reverse confetti tall triangles. I cut the die with 8 rainbow colours then pieced them together. I put 2 of these on a 5×7 card with striped paper under one side. The striped paper was printed from Simon says stamp diagonal stripes background stamp. I used Tim holtz sizzix (sentiment words, thin) dies for the sentiment and added a scrap under the ‘y’. I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is make your own background.

    Birthday wishes

Hi crafters, I’m experimenting with a variation of the technique Shari Carroll did this week. I decided to try something similar but with distress stains. I took some watercolour paper cut to size. I dabbed distress stain daubers on the end of a gift card and dragged them across the paper and wiped them off the gift card onto the paper. I used lots of greens and blues. I didn’t put very much on at a time. I then spattered with some water with perfect pearls in it ( plus accidentally poured some in the middle). After it was dry I stamped the sentiment from the 2018 March My Hero…

    Dawn

Hi crafters, Simon says Stamp has a wild things theme this week. I am experimenting with foiling images again. I also wanted to create a dawn scene for them. I used Spellbinders Make a Wish and Sizzix Birds and Stars dies to make stencils from scrap card. I stencilled Atelier heavy gel gloss medium through these. It is important not to let the gel ooze as it will resist watercolouring. I did this twice and second go there was still a little ooze which I lifted with a craft knife and used an eraser when it was dry to get rid of the shine and expose the paper. Once it…
