    Oval blossoms

Hi crafters. I had flower pieces left over from the last card so I made another one. I had Pinkfresh Studio dainty blossoms black outlines and coloured photo paper insets. I put double sided tape across the back of the open flower outlines and inlaid the coloured pieces. I burnished them to make sure they were stuck. Then I had to trim the double sided tape from the outside edges of the flowers. This was fiddly. There may be a better way to do this. I cut an oval from a black piece of paper and adhered acetate to the back. I cut a slightly smaller rectangle of yellow funfoam…

    Spring flowers

Hi crafters. I created this card using the colours from the Pinkfresh April challenge. I used the Pinkfresh dainty blossoms dies to cut a piece of black paper. I adhered a slightly smaller piece of acetate behind the black. I created the paper for the flowers by colouring photo paper. The yellow and the pink/red were made by lightly applying distress oxides wild honey and worn lipstick on the photo paper. The green and blue were made by colouring the photo paper with alcohol markers. Once the flowers were cut out I inlaid them onto the acetate. I created many small shaker areas with black foam tape on the back…

    Beautiful Blooms

Hi crafters. I was inspired by Sandra’s card last week where she used alcohol inks over texture paste on yupo. I decided to try that. I used a 5×7 piece of Yupo paper and applied texture paste through the Prima ornate lace stencil. I wanted to try to foil on wet embossing paste so I put some foil over it while it dried. This was a mistake. The yupo doesn’t absorb any moisture and with the foil over it, it can’t evaporate so it doesn’t dry. I ended up with wet paste for about 36 hours. As it turned out I shouldn’t have bothered. Some foil did stick. I applied…

    MFT challenges

Hi crafters. I decided to try a card for the current MFT sketch challenge 432 and the Color challenge 115. I decided to try and make some paper to use with the gel press. I tried adding these colours and using MFT background stamps to remove colour. The main piece I used here has the MFT diagonal design background stamp showing in it. Not much of the lighter blue showed in this piece so I used another piece with lighter blue to do the stripe. I used cardstock with rose gold foil on it to cut the happy birthday die cut from. I lost the dot from the i so…

    Hey chick

Hi crafters. This is a card for the Simon says Stamp challenges this week. I started with a piece of paper that I had printed using green paint and Neat and Tangled Landscape textures line stamp. I cut this piece with MFT grassy fields dies. I swiped these pieces with distress stain daubers in green using dark greens at the front and lighter ones at the back. The sky paper was gel press brayer paper that I added tumbled glass, shaded lilac and mermaid lagoons stains to, to colour the unpainted paper. I layered these pieces with double sided tape at the lower edges and then arranged the animals. The…

    Owl good

Hi crafters. I started tidying and found some things to try out and this card is the result. The paper is very smooth and came as packaging. I stamped the Picket fence Owl in Memento tuxedo black and coloured him with alcohol markers. I also stamped his feet on the branch from Tim Holtz small tattered florals. I adhered a couple of branches and some leaves. The strip on the side was ribbon for gift wrapping to which I added a couple of washi tapes. The happy birthday is Hero Arts Hero greetings occasions. The lower sentiment was stamped with Sugar Pea designs Handwritten script alphabet. I am entering this…

    Something’s fishy

Hi crafters. When the world’s going crazy I think the best thing to do is colour cats. For this card I stamped the Lil Inkers Cat Hugs with coffee Archival ink and coloured with alcohol markers. I used a black copic multi liner to go over some details and extend the image a little wider. I cut the cats with the coordinating die. I contrasted the cats with green/teal fish which I covered in Jo Sonja’s opal dust to make them sparkly. I had a precut pearlised card base which I swiped with blue and teal makers. The sentiment is from the same set. I am entering this card in…

    Navy CAS

Hi crafters. I wanted to use the Artplorations plaid maker stencil for this card. I was looking for a scrap of white paper and I found this circle of photo paper. I thought I’d try that and see what happened. I used the stencil with my Versafine Clair Twilight ink pad to make initial stripes. As these stripes won’t dry on photo paper, I decided to grab the clear embossing powder to heat emboss them. When I grabbed the powder, I accidentally grabbed the white instead of the clear powder. I realised when I poured it on but decided to press on anyway. At first the powder went white, but…

    Foiled thanks

Hi crafters. Since the Monday Simon says Stamp challenge is about foiling, I thought it would be a good chance to try foiling with embossing paste. There seems to be many varieties of paste. I used Jo Sonja’s texture paste here. I applied it through the Hero Arts long leaves stencil onto thick watercolour paper. I let it dry. I think some people apply the foil on top while it’s drying. I wanted the paste to be coloured in case the foil didn’t stick. Once dry I applied various Ken Oliver, Nuvo, Lindy’s magicals and Colour blast powders and misted. Once dry, I put it through the Minc machine with…

    Foiled birthday

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Monday challenge this week is about foiling. My mind was still thinking about paint from last week so I started by gelli printing a green and teal background with geometric stencils. To this I added crosses with a Kaisercraft stencil and metallic teal paint mixed with heavy gel gloss medium. I stencilled in different directions, and when it was dry I used a Versamark pen and a ruler to add lines to fill out the pattern. I added Ranger sticky embossing powder and pressed teal and green foil onto the hot lines. I couldn’t put it through a laminator to get better foiling as…
