    Hey chick

Hi crafters. This is a card for the Simon says Stamp challenges this week. I started with a piece of paper that I had printed using green paint and Neat and Tangled Landscape textures line stamp. I cut this piece with MFT grassy fields dies. I swiped these pieces with distress stain daubers in green using dark greens at the front and lighter ones at the back. The sky paper was gel press brayer paper that I added tumbled glass, shaded lilac and mermaid lagoons stains to, to colour the unpainted paper. I layered these pieces with double sided tape at the lower edges and then arranged the animals. The…

    Owl good

Hi crafters. I started tidying and found some things to try out and this card is the result. The paper is very smooth and came as packaging. I stamped the Picket fence Owl in Memento tuxedo black and coloured him with alcohol markers. I also stamped his feet on the branch from Tim Holtz small tattered florals. I adhered a couple of branches and some leaves. The strip on the side was ribbon for gift wrapping to which I added a couple of washi tapes. The happy birthday is Hero Arts Hero greetings occasions. The lower sentiment was stamped with Sugar Pea designs Handwritten script alphabet. I am entering this…

    Something’s fishy

Hi crafters. When the world’s going crazy I think the best thing to do is colour cats. For this card I stamped the Lil Inkers Cat Hugs with coffee Archival ink and coloured with alcohol markers. I used a black copic multi liner to go over some details and extend the image a little wider. I cut the cats with the coordinating die. I contrasted the cats with green/teal fish which I covered in Jo Sonja’s opal dust to make them sparkly. I had a precut pearlised card base which I swiped with blue and teal makers. The sentiment is from the same set. I am entering this card in…

    Navy CAS

Hi crafters. I wanted to use the Artplorations plaid maker stencil for this card. I was looking for a scrap of white paper and I found this circle of photo paper. I thought I’d try that and see what happened. I used the stencil with my Versafine Clair Twilight ink pad to make initial stripes. As these stripes won’t dry on photo paper, I decided to grab the clear embossing powder to heat emboss them. When I grabbed the powder, I accidentally grabbed the white instead of the clear powder. I realised when I poured it on but decided to press on anyway. At first the powder went white, but…

    Foiled thanks

Hi crafters. Since the Monday Simon says Stamp challenge is about foiling, I thought it would be a good chance to try foiling with embossing paste. There seems to be many varieties of paste. I used Jo Sonja’s texture paste here. I applied it through the Hero Arts long leaves stencil onto thick watercolour paper. I let it dry. I think some people apply the foil on top while it’s drying. I wanted the paste to be coloured in case the foil didn’t stick. Once dry I applied various Ken Oliver, Nuvo, Lindy’s magicals and Colour blast powders and misted. Once dry, I put it through the Minc machine with…

    Foiled birthday

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Monday challenge this week is about foiling. My mind was still thinking about paint from last week so I started by gelli printing a green and teal background with geometric stencils. To this I added crosses with a Kaisercraft stencil and metallic teal paint mixed with heavy gel gloss medium. I stencilled in different directions, and when it was dry I used a Versamark pen and a ruler to add lines to fill out the pattern. I added Ranger sticky embossing powder and pressed teal and green foil onto the hot lines. I couldn’t put it through a laminator to get better foiling as…

    Cool triangles

Hi crafters. Another abstract card today. I had some street directory page with acrylic paint on it from gel press experiments. I added extra paint to cover it better. I then stamped Impression Obsession scratches background stamp in Versafine onyx black and heat embossed it. At the bottom I added Stampendous industrial ( as it is a 5×7 card and the background stamp didn’t cover it all). I then stamped Memory box That’s acute triangles and heat embossed those too. Then I added crayon to the triangles and white gel pen to the edges. I white embossed a sentiment from Stamplorations it’s all about you! stamp set. I am entering…

    Metallic bird

Hi crafters. I have been experimenting with layered stamping and heat embossing. This is the technique for the April CAS mix up challenge. I used the following techniques: stamping, heat embossing, diecutting and watercolouring. I decided to do embossing like one would use water based markers to colour a stamp. I decided to use the Darkroom Door robin Stamp. This is not a layering stamp. It is a single image. I started by embossing the bird with platinum embossing powder. With a Versamark pen applied to the stamp, I selectively added black, gold, bronze and copper powders. Towards the end I added the pen directly to the image and filled…

    Copper rose

Hi crafters. I have an entry for A blog named Hero challenge for March. I started by cutting a rounded rectangle out of scrap paper and attaching the outside to a piece of white card stock. I stamped an older Hero Arts wood block stamped called Starburst lace in the centre hole of the mask. This was embossed with silver embossing powder. I then used the love and hugs stamp from the Hero Florals Rose stem stamp set, and stamped it all over and embossed with platinum embossing powder. Next I stamped the rose from that set and embossed it with copper embossing powder. Finally I drew around the inside…
