    PearlEx bird

Hi crafters. The CAS stencil challenge this month is Perfect Pearls/ PearlEx. I decided to make a card with the Stamplorations Perched bird stencil. I taped the stencil to the 5×7 cardstock and masked the edges. I stamped The Kaisercraft script stamp into the opening and white embossed it. I next applied embossing ink through the stencil. I cleaned the stencil and applied the PearlEx through the stencil. I used Red russet and Super Bronze. It was pretty clean when I lifted off the stencil but I still managed to smudge it every 5 min, even after water mist setting. I sprayed it with matt spray sealer so hopefully it…

    With sympathy

Hi crafters. The new challenge at A Blog Named Hero is sympathy cards. I started with the gel press and black, silver, blue and white paints. I used a couple of Hero Arts stencils and kept going until I had a few prints to choose from. This card uses the Hero Arts tropical background stencil. I liked the muted, organic look with a bit of contrast. I trimmed it a little and added a sentiment from the Hero greetings occasions stamp set with navy embossing powder and adhered it to a dark blue panel.

    Adventure

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Monday challenge theme is vacation. This made me think travel. I started by collaging an atlas map, a piece of street directory and a picture from a brochure onto a piece of card and gave it a wash of white gesso. I stamped the Darkroom Door world map, Kaiercraft background postmarks, and various second hand wood block stamps onto tissue paper. I tore these apart and added them over the maps. I gessoed this too. I then added distress stains. These weren’t drying completely so I sealed them with matt medium then added more colour with water soluble crayons. I die cut the letters…

    The male room

Hi crafters. I have the honour of being a guest designer on The Male Room for their latest challenge #113 which is Cooking/Baking. I looked at my supplies and decided I would make cake cards. I had a few ideas but wasn’t sure if this first one would turn out, so I actually have 3 cards in total. For the first card, I wanted it cake shaped. I started by grabbing a 5×7 envelope and some scrap paper and working out how high the cake could be with the ‘eat cake’ on top. I had originally thought I would do a watercolour cake but then I saw aluminium tape at…

    Fusion challenge

Hi crafters. The current Fusion challenge has such a sweet photo I couldn’t resist. I have been sewing on cards lately and I thought some ombré cotton would fit with the photo very well. I die cut the Paper Smooches cross stitch die in the centre of some pink cardstock. I stitched it with 2 colours of ombré cotton. The bird is from Flora and Fauna Floral aviary set and is coloured with alcohol markers. He is sitting on a branch from the Tim Holtz small tattered florals die set. I stamped the sentiment from the Flora and Fauna love bug set on a vellum heart. The panel was matted…

    CAS wedding

Hi crafters. I have another wedding card. I’m up to date now thanks to the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is anniversary/ wedding this week. I decided to do a CAS ombré card which will also fit with the CAS mix up challenge for June. I started by masking a rectangular area on a panel and stamping the Impression Obsession Gradation Stamp in Versamark ink. I sprinkled on an ombré of powders: Judikins Diamond, Silver, Platinum, Gold and WOW pearl gold sparkle embossing glitter. I wasn’t getting a great impression at the edges so I restamped, cut out the rectangle and touched up dots with a Versamark pen. (My…

    Glittery wedding.

Hi crafters. I need a couple of wedding cards for later in the year so I thought I should start while the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is anniversary/ wedding. I tried something else before this card but it wasn’t working. This card started with a piece of dark grungy pattern paper. I put it in a Kaisercraft damask embossing folder which I inked up with embossing ink. I took the paper out and covered it in WOW pearl gold sparkle embossing glitter. This is awesome stuff! I then rubbed over the raised bits with embossing ink and embossed with liquid platinum embossing powder. Unfortunately I covered some of the…

    Stitched pineapple

Hi crafters. I saw the new challenge at Paper Smooches and I couldn’t get this fabulous photo out of my head. Pink and yellow is a particularly happy combination. I decided to stitch a pineapple. I couldn’t find a pattern which was right so I used the Paper Smooches cross stitch die and cut an area that would fit on a 5×7 card, then drew a pineapple shape and just made up the rest. I used mainly crotchet cotton and a bit of floss. I was going to stitch the pink areas of the pineapple but I thought it looked more modern and fitted with photo better to leave them…

    Red and purple

Hi crafters. I wanted to make a more romantic anniversary card. I also wanted to try out some die cuts from Kaisercraft( ornate flourish, damask). I cut these and glued them to scrap paper along with some of the negative pieces. I used TCW mini believe stencil to add some texture paste. When that was dry I applied gesso, then various acrylic paints in purple, pink and red. When was dry I brushed in some rose gold paint ( which looks more gold) and glued on some gems. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Hero greetings Stamp set. I used the Reverse confetti give thanks label dies. I used an…

    Happy Anniversary

Hi crafters. I’ve been playing with paint and die cuts. I used some die cuts made with the Tim Holtz Harlequin Border die. I cut this from some cardboard that I had tried cutting the Paper Smooches cross stitch die from, so it has texture and some holes. I glued this to a scrap and then added some texture paste with the Funky Fossil stencil called micro dots. I then used mint, blue, white, silver and black on the surface. I added some silver embossing powder to highlight areas, as well as some tiny rhinestones which were the same size as the other dots. The sentiment is from the Altenew…
