    Sending love

Hi crafters. I have an entry for the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is Stars and Stripes. I started with background that had lots of acrylic paint on it. I added radiating stripes with the Visible Image stencil Strobes and some heavy gel with yellow paint in it. When that was dry I added stencilled stars with texture paste, paint and glitter mixed together. The buildings are from a Kaisercraft die and gel print paper. I layered these with light colours at the back and added the colours from the background onto them with crayon. I added different shades of yellow paper behind them. The sentiment is from The…

    Blue sympathy

Hi crafters. I decided to try and use some of the leftover gel prints from this card to make another sympathy card. I used a print made with the Hero Arts Long leaves stencil for the background. I white heat embossed the Hero Arts Florals Rose stem onto some other prints and fussy cut them out. I glued the pieces to the background as well as some leaves that had been cut off the left edge. I had a little trouble with the heat embossing chipping off the gel prints, I think partly as the paper is thin but I was able to fix that by re-embossing or with a…

    The journey

Hi crafters. I made a card for the Simon says Stamp travel/ transport challenges. I wanted to try stamping the Darkroom Door world map on black paper with unicorn white pigment ink. I stamped it twice at an angle with some masking. The black strip was embossed using the Cuttlebug Old Paris embossing folder. I then rubbed a Versamark ink pad over the surface and embossed with clear powder. The next 2 layers were cut with the Spellbinders Labels 44. The larger one is from Grey/blue (looks more white in the photo) pattern paper stamped with the Kaisercraft background postmarks stamp. The top layer has a sentiment from the Stamplorations…

    Ombré glitter.

Hi crafters. I made an ombré card for the CAS mix up card challenge for June. I felt the need for sparkle and this is what happened. I have these glitter foam squares with adhesive on the back. I got them at the secondhand shop but I have seen them in children’s craft kits at the discount store. I had 2 golds, 2 reds and an orange so I did an ombré block. I stuck them onto a scrap of cardstock and added red fun foam to the back. I tried a stamped background but I didn’t think that was working. I used another secondhand product instead – self adhesive…

    PearlEx bird

Hi crafters. The CAS stencil challenge this month is Perfect Pearls/ PearlEx. I decided to make a card with the Stamplorations Perched bird stencil. I taped the stencil to the 5×7 cardstock and masked the edges. I stamped The Kaisercraft script stamp into the opening and white embossed it. I next applied embossing ink through the stencil. I cleaned the stencil and applied the PearlEx through the stencil. I used Red russet and Super Bronze. It was pretty clean when I lifted off the stencil but I still managed to smudge it every 5 min, even after water mist setting. I sprayed it with matt spray sealer so hopefully it…

    With sympathy

Hi crafters. The new challenge at A Blog Named Hero is sympathy cards. I started with the gel press and black, silver, blue and white paints. I used a couple of Hero Arts stencils and kept going until I had a few prints to choose from. This card uses the Hero Arts tropical background stencil. I liked the muted, organic look with a bit of contrast. I trimmed it a little and added a sentiment from the Hero greetings occasions stamp set with navy embossing powder and adhered it to a dark blue panel.

    Adventure

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Monday challenge theme is vacation. This made me think travel. I started by collaging an atlas map, a piece of street directory and a picture from a brochure onto a piece of card and gave it a wash of white gesso. I stamped the Darkroom Door world map, Kaiercraft background postmarks, and various second hand wood block stamps onto tissue paper. I tore these apart and added them over the maps. I gessoed this too. I then added distress stains. These weren’t drying completely so I sealed them with matt medium then added more colour with water soluble crayons. I die cut the letters…

    The male room

Hi crafters. I have the honour of being a guest designer on The Male Room for their latest challenge #113 which is Cooking/Baking. I looked at my supplies and decided I would make cake cards. I had a few ideas but wasn’t sure if this first one would turn out, so I actually have 3 cards in total. For the first card, I wanted it cake shaped. I started by grabbing a 5×7 envelope and some scrap paper and working out how high the cake could be with the ‘eat cake’ on top. I had originally thought I would do a watercolour cake but then I saw aluminium tape at…

    Fusion challenge

Hi crafters. The current Fusion challenge has such a sweet photo I couldn’t resist. I have been sewing on cards lately and I thought some ombré cotton would fit with the photo very well. I die cut the Paper Smooches cross stitch die in the centre of some pink cardstock. I stitched it with 2 colours of ombré cotton. The bird is from Flora and Fauna Floral aviary set and is coloured with alcohol markers. He is sitting on a branch from the Tim Holtz small tattered florals die set. I stamped the sentiment from the Flora and Fauna love bug set on a vellum heart. The panel was matted…

    CAS wedding

Hi crafters. I have another wedding card. I’m up to date now thanks to the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is anniversary/ wedding this week. I decided to do a CAS ombré card which will also fit with the CAS mix up challenge for June. I started by masking a rectangular area on a panel and stamping the Impression Obsession Gradation Stamp in Versamark ink. I sprinkled on an ombré of powders: Judikins Diamond, Silver, Platinum, Gold and WOW pearl gold sparkle embossing glitter. I wasn’t getting a great impression at the edges so I restamped, cut out the rectangle and touched up dots with a Versamark pen. (My…
