    Long time no sea

Hi crafters. I seem to have a jellyfish theme this week. This is a card for the Memory Box Challenge #51: Striped cards. I created a sea for my jellyfish with watercolour stripes. As luck would have it, when I went to create the wash for my stripes, the brush had not been cleaned since using perfect pearls so the stripes are shimmery. I used Daniel Smith amazonite genuine and added in some turquoise and blue while it was still wet. I cut the piece down and added a sentiment from the Memory Box Oceanside typewriter sentiments. I used the Memory Box wandering jellyfish die to cut 3 jellyfish from…

    Bookmarks

Hi crafters. It is “not a card” at the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge so I made a couple of bookmarks. They were inspired by the cushion they were photographed on. The one on the left shows the reverse side. I smushed the paper with distress oxides in Wilted violet, broken china and worn lipstick. I also added some distress stains in shaded lilac and cracked pistachio. I stamped on top with the Katzelkraft jellyfish and Flora and Fauna seaweeds in Versafine Clair inks. The inks bled through to the back so I covered that with torn tissue applied with distress Multi medium matt. I added some glitter over that.…

    Party cows

Hi crafters. I have a card for the current Simon says Stamp challenges. I rummaged through the pile and found some gel print papers for the background. I added a little more paint to them and cut up the green  ones to form hills. The cows (Rubber Moon) were stamped onto scraps of watercolour and kraft paper and fussy cut. I cut some party hats from scraps as well. I added a blob of glue to the top of each hat and sprinkled glitter on. “Party” was cut from gold with the Sizzix Paper cuts alphabet die and the other letters were cut with the Tim Holtz Typeset alphabet. I…

    Stitched Adore You

Hi crafters. I made another entry for the Altenew July Inspiration challenge. This is the challenge inspiration photo: I started with a sample of upholstery fabric which had a nice texture. I tried stamping the stamp images with different inks but ended up using Versafine Clair Glamorous and Green Oasis as these were crisper and easier to see on the fabric and didn’t smudge with handling. I started outlining the flower images with red nylon embroidery thread and moved to floss for the rest of the flowers and leaves. I used various orange, pink and green threads, mainly in either 2 or 3 strands at a time. I used the…

    Ocean shaker

Hi crafters. I made another ocean card for the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is life on the ocean waves. I guess mine is below the surface rather than on the waves so I hope that is OK. The background and frame are cut from pattern paper. I then stamped various sea plants/ corals from Flora and Fauna’s Under the sea set with Versafine Clair Warm breeze and green oasis inks. I then coated under these with glue and covered it with sand. I pressed it in and brushed off the excess and put a little more glue on top. I adhered the tiny pumice stones from the beach…

    Foiled ocean

Hi crafters. I made a card using foiled scraps. The sea was made from a background where I experimented with foiling. I had applied acrylic paint through the Kaisercraft ripples stencil and foiled it in the Minc with blue fab foil. It was coloured between the foiling with distress stains. I sliced along the waves with a craft knife and inserted a sailboat (ephemera) and 3 fish. The fish (Kaisercraft school of fish) are cut from a piece of cardstock covered in aluminium tape and coloured with alcohol ink and copics. I cut a little gold flag for the boat from a gold star sequin. The birds (Sizzix birds and…

    Ahoy!

Hi crafters. This card has been percolating through my brain for a little while so it’s good to finally make it. I took a piece of photo paper coloured with alcohol ink. I tried the technique in the current CAS mix up card and CAS stencil challenges which is alcohol ink lift. I don’t have an alcohol ink lift ink pad so I tried blending solution and a sponge. I used the ripples stencil from Kaisercraft. The piece was pale and some ink did lift but not all areas. I think this is because any colour going onto photo paper gets stuck pretty quickly. I decided to add some more…

    Hey

Hi crafters. I made a card for a few challenges. I started by stamping Kaisercraft, Prima and 49 and Market stamps with archival Acorn ink. I then used crackle paste( which didn’t crackle) through a second hand lettering stencil and sprinkled it with denim embossing powder. I heated the powder when the paste was dry and coated everything in clear gesso. I then used Lindy’s and Ken Oliver’s powder to create coloured drips down the card. I filled in the gaps with more powder. I added some more stamping with Kaisercraft Diamonds and Your Next Stamp Mini star spatter Stamps with ground espresso distress ink. I added a stripe of…

    Pastels

Hi crafters. I decided to experiment with chalk pastels on a card. I stamped the flowers from Altenew’s Adore you stamp set and used Simon says Stamp rose gold powder to heat emboss them. I also drew in some stems freehand with a Versamark pen and embossed those as well. I then coloured the flowers with pastels. I did this directly to the cardbase which was smooth. I tried a little blending with a stump but then a lot of the powder comes off. More blending may have been possible if I was drawing on paper with more tooth. I ended up just leaving the colouring a bit rough. I…

    Pencil charm

Hi crafters. I’m trying pencils today. I used pink, red and orange pencils to colour the main image from the Altenew charmed stamp set. I heat embossed the image in gold along with a sentiment from the Birthday greetings Stamp set. I tried a layer of white pencil first then started with the colours but it was a bit too muted so I sponged unicorn white ink on the image and then coloured again. At the end I spattered some gold shimmer spray and added some spray to the flower centres. This is a one layer card as I stamped on a teal cardbase. In the photo it looks more…
