    Got the blues

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp challenges are both midsummer blues at the moment. I needed one more birthday card, so it’s a blue one. I started with a page of street directory which was nearly all water so it was blue with a grid and the border references. I gave it a very light cost of white gesso and then added texture paste through a Radiant lettering stencil and the Kaisercraft typography stencil. When this was dry I added Ken Oliver Prussian blue and indigo powders, followed by Lindy’s Magicals Black Forest and misted and tilted so it ran to the top of the card. I also rubbed on…

    Stitched Hooray

Hi crafters. I have a card for The August Pinkfresh Studio Challenge. I am still spraying with masks. (See Kristina Werner’s recent post). I decided to use the small rose die from Pinkfresh Studio which was free with purchase around February. I thought this would be easy to sew. I cut it multiple times from contact adhesive vinyl and stuck these onto cardstock. I burnished them down with a bone folder and then sprayed in colours that worked with the challenge colours. I also added gold spatters. I then removed the contact and this panel is the result. I used a pokey tool to poke holes through the paper to…

    Paper towel challenge

Hi crafters. The current CAS mix up challenge for August is to use inky paper towels. I don’t usually use paper towels, I just use rags and wash them occasionally and throw them out when they have too much glue on them. When I was spraying with stencils for the stencil challenge, I used a paper towel to mop up the sprays and wipe the stencil so I would have one for this challenge. I sprayed the paper towel and wrapped it around an acrylic block and pressed it on cardstock with a paper weight. Then as there was lots ink left in the paper towel I thought I should…

    More striped CAS

Hi crafters. I made a card with the leftover piece of sprayed stripe stencilled paper from this card. I cut the piece with the cute Paper Smooches You Rock die. I also cut some black fun foam. I left the fun foam in one piece and added glue to the outer negative portion and glued the panel on. I removed the positive foam and glued the panel to a white cardbase. Of course, one tiny piece of paper took off and I spent 20min looking for it, but I eventually got all the little bits secured. I thought about adding something else like a little heart but it seemed better…

    Masked Celebrate

Hi crafters. I have another card using Kristina Werner’s masking technique with contact adhesive. I made this one for the CAS stencil challenge as the last one didn’t have any white space. I hope making my own masks counts as stencilling. This time I used the Pinkfresh dainty blossoms dies, Pinkfresh Classic word dies and Memory Box mini butterflies dies. The contact die cuts were placed on white cardstock and burnished down with a bone folder. As they are thin diecuts I was able to curve the Celebrate word a little. I then went crazy with the spray. I had to spray a couple of times as the colour didn’t…

    Where are the die cuts?

Hi crafters. One of the challenges I am entering with this card is add a die cut. But where are the die cuts on this one layer card? I used the very fun technique that Kristina Werner did this week where she diecut from vinyl contact adhesive and applied that to paper and watercoloured. I cut Tim Holtz Wildflowers dies from the contact as well as a sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio Classic words die. I applied the contact to a bone coloured, speckled piece of cardstock. I rubbed the die cuts down with a bone folder and the sprayed with 2 blue sprays. Before I removed the die cuts I…

    Tiled Birthday

Hi crafters. The main panel of this card was stamped with tile stamps from the Kaisercraft Havana nights Stamp set. I used Warm breeze, green oasis and Twilight Versafine Clair inks. I then coloured it with alcohol markers. I cut the panel down and matted it with copper paper and adhered it to a teal cardbase. The sentiment was placed on a Spellbinders Labels 44 diecut. I traced the die onto copper paper, cut it out and added that behind the sentiment. The sentiment was stamped and embossed in copper using the Concord and 9th everyday greetings Stamp set. The ‘Dad’ was made using Concord and 9th Double cut alphabet…

    You Rock

Hi crafters. This card uses the colours from the current Color Throwdown challenge #555. I painted a piece of watercolour paper in stripes of color. When it was dry I cut it with the Paper Smooches You rock die. I then stencilled stars onto the panel using heavy gel medium and the Paper Smooches Starry stencil. I was in a bit of a hurry and placed the silver foil on top before the gel was 100% dry. When I foiled it, some gel oozed out. I decided to hide the flaws with stars cut from mirror paper and the MFT Stacking stars die. I inlaid the cut sentiment with 5…

    Mondo Sakura wishes

Hi crafters. The flower challenge currently has a challenge to use your favourite flower. I haven’t used this stamp before but I have coveted it whenever I saw one of the many beautiful cards that have been made by others with it. I finally purchased the Mondo Sakura Stamp by Julie Ebersole recently when it was on sale. I love the style of drawing in the image. I decided to try watercolouring. The paper I had, had a big curve in it so I taped it to a board. This became important later as I couldn’t restamp it. I stamped with Versafine Clair Monarch and watercoloured in pinks and purples.…

    Stripey CAS

Hi crafters. I have a card for a couple of challenges. The bright stripey bit was inspired by the CAS stencil challenge for August. The technique is sprays. I used the Stamplorations Plaid maker stencil. I had to have a couple of tries to get my stripes without too much seepage. I used my sprays in rainbow order along a piece of cardstock. I had scrap paper taped to the edges to stop over spray, and moved it along to cover the gaps. This is what the piece looked like before I cut it. The stripes aren’t perfect but I love the bright colours. For this card I cut a…
