    Twinkly tape

Hi crafters. This card was inspired by Nikki’s guest designer cards for the SSS Monday tape challenge. She used a gelli plate to make patterns which were then picked up with clear packing tape. I used some metallic acrylic paints on the gel press. I then added some blue stamping with MFT lined up dots background, as well as silver acrylic stamping of snowflakes and a joy stamp. I laid the packing tape over the plate and after picking it up, poured a mixed glitter on any remaining sticky bits. The strips were the adhered to light blue cardstock with matt medium. I decided to cut the Tim Holtz Flurry…

    Tricky triangles

Hi crafters. Have you seen the prompt for the current Less is More Challenge? The challenge is to pick one triangle only and have all your design within it. This had me pondering for a while. I made a triangle with pattern paper and the Birch Press prismatic dies. I cut the dies from cedar drawer liner and a neutral paper. I used a ruler to measure and draw my triangles on a 5×7 cardbase. I cut the triangle to fit and typed a quote from Frank A Clark which I found in a motivational quote book. It took me a long time to find a quote but I was…

    Baroque Anniversary

Hi crafters. Today I am guest designing for Time Out Challenges. The current challenge is Celebrations and is generously sponsored by Altenew. My card looks like it may have taken a long time to colour, but it didn’t. The whole card took about an hour and I wasn’t rushing. I started by stamping the largest flourish from the Altenew Baroque Stamp set in Versafine Clair Twilight, which is a navy colour. I rotated the grey, speckled paper and stamped again. I recommend inking the stamp well as repeated stamping may cause some of the fine details to be lost. The next step makes the colouring so easy. Altenew has a…

    Shine

Hi crafters. I was inspired by a Laurel Beard video to try white pigment ink on sprayed background. I used a Little Birdie star stencil plus small stars from Hero Arts, Your Next Stamp and Technique Tuesday stamp sets. I didn’t think it looked as good as Laurel’s just in white ( maybe a darker background would have been better), so I added some Brilliance gold sponging and stamping on top of the white. The white spots are where there was gold spray but the gold has fallen off. I added some gold glitter embossing to the stars with a Versamark pen. The sentiment is from the Stamplorations Art Marks…

    Copper?

Hi crafters. I decided to try one of the techniques from the November CAS mix up challenge which has an oxidised metal theme. The technique involves putting reinkers on foil cardstock. (There are videos at the challenge). I didn’t have the type of foil cardstock that was used in the video but I remembered I saved a copper coloured piece of cardstock from a gift box last Christmas. (You know the foiled cardstock they put at the back of toiletries to make them look more fancy). I put green and red distress reinkers on a piece. They wanted to pool rather than spread. I heated to dry them off and…

    Pinkfresh November

Hi crafters. I have a card for the Pinkfresh Studios November Challenge. Here is the photo: I took acrylic paints in the challenge colours and scraped them on some cardstock. I trimmed this down and then partially gold embossed the image from Heart and Soul twice. I added Thank you cut from thick black cardstock with the Classic Words die set. There is some shine from the gold paint and the embossing. I am also entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Work it Wednesday challenge for October: Autumn and Gratitude Thanks for visiting, Christine

    Starry night journal

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge is Starry Starry night. I thought I would try an art journal page. I made an ombré background with black chalk, metallic teal and gold acrylic paints. I mixed a little teal paint with silver glitter and scraped that over the pages. I mixed a few glitters with heavy gel gloss medium to make a glitter paste for the stars. I used a Little Birdie stencil plus a stencil made from the Sizzix Birds and Stars die. I stamped the Hero Arts Dandelion woodblock and Unity Stamps Insightful Meadows dandelions with Archival jet black ink. I cut some Sizzix Make a Wish…

    More recycling

Hi crafters. The Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is to recycle. I was given the lace from my sister’s wedding dress to use and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to use a little. There are various embroidered sections on tulle. I cut out one portion. I wanted something to use with it so I stamped the Altenew Baroque motifs stamp on beverage packaging using Unicorn white pigment ink. I cut this out and popped it up with foam tape over some paper with subtle script stamping. I used another piece of packaging to white emboss a sentiment from the Altenew Birthday greetings stamp set. I cut that out…

    Recycled

Hi crafters. After reading some art books about art journaling, and seeing the recent challenge at Simon says Stamp, I decided to try it. My journal is a recycled cookbook from the secondhand shop. It is a nice size, with a hard cover, nice paper and a ribbon bookmark. I took out several pages from each register to make room and then got to it. This picture shows some recipes through the paint at the beginning. I just kept adding layers. First acrylic paint, then stencilling and stamping. I used some scrap triangles made from cedar drawer liner cut with the Neat and Tangled hexastar cover plate die. I also…

    Paint swipes and encrusted sentiments

Hi crafters. Today I am guest designing for Time Out Challenges. The new challenge theme is celebrations. I usually end up leaving the sentiment till last, but with these cards I did the sentiments first. The word celebration was making me think special and sparkly, so I decided to cover die cut words with glittery things. I took some scrap and cut out the words. I recommend using colours that coordinate with your glitter etc in case there are any blank spots. I used Altenew Script Words 2 and The Ton Bold General Greetings dies. I layered the ‘fabulous’ to make it stiffer and easier to hold. I put glue…
