    Party shaker

Hi crafters. I have a card for the Simon says Stamp Party challenges. The background panel is blue, orange, yellow and red acrylic finger painted on paper with gold acrylic scraped over the top while it was still a little wet. Before that dried I poured gold glitter on it. I brushed off the loose bits and coated it with acrylic varnish to seal in the glitter. I cut a piece of this paper to fit behind a frame made with a MFT stitched rounded square frames die. I filled the shaker with gold and blue bits and adhered it to a black cardbase edged with gold Viva modellier creme.…

    Birthday bouquet

Hi crafters. I tried out some watercolour paint on some Pinkfresh studio Dainty Blossoms for the December Pinkfresh Studio Challenge. Since Christmas is over, I’m not using the theme, just the colours. I started by cutting a Noteworthy Frame into watercolour paper. I painted this with the challenge blues. While this was drying, I put a piece of the same watercolour paper through the Xyron machine. I then covered it with Dainty Blossom dies. This was quite thick so the pieces tended to stay in the diecuts. I painted the flowers and attempted to mix the challenge colours. When it was all dry, I made a flower arrangement and adhered…

    Spring chickens

Hi crafters. My resolution for 2020 is to try and use more pattern paper. I was able to combine the pattern paper with chickens here for the Time Out Challenge #151. I thought the Technique Tuesday sentiment from the Chicken Family stamp set was perfect for the inspiration quote. The background is from the One Canoe Two Twilight paper pad. I stamped chickens from Rubber Moon onto a scrap of paper I had coloured in the past, added some gel pen and marker to them and fussy cut them out. Happy crafting, Christine

    Let’s Party

Hi crafters. I managed to squeeze another card in before the festivities. I took a grungy gel print and added colour to the blank spots with Arteza real brush markers. I then used the Visible Image Strobe stencil to add some iridescent glitter paste. I cut the Pinkfresh Studio Let’s Party die from black and platinum glitter cardstock. I am entering this card in the following challenges: Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Party time. Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Party time

    Wooden flowers

Hi crafters. Just a quick card for the Flower Challenge #39 where the theme is use a die. I found some second hand balsa wood and wanted to try diecutting it. I couldn’t find my double sided adhesive sheets so I put the balsa wood through the Xyron machine. I then cut this with The Stamp Market Ready to bloom cover die. I also cut the die from beige fun foam and layered the flowers. I used papers from the Kaisercraft Fleur collection for the rest of the card. I stamped a sentiment from the Funky Fossil Quick Brown Fox Stamp set and added some sequins.

    Missing You

Hi crafters. I was colouring with Copics and Sharpies recently and had scrap paper underneath. The scrap paper had lovely pink, purple and orange blotches over it. It was just copy paper but I decided to try and make a card with it. I stamped the buildings from Concord and 9th City Stacks Stamp set onto it with some masking. I coloured in the buildings with Arteza markers and a waterbrush (without much water). I tried gold Finetec watercolour over the sky and platinum paint pen around the buildings and over the windows. There wasn’t enough distinction between the buildings and the sky so I went over the gold with…

    Buildings from the pile

Hi crafters. The current Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is Cityscape. I thought this would be a great opportunity to use some pieces from the pile. A while ago I tried magazine transfers with the gel press. Until I got the knack of it, I produced prints with semi-distinct images on them. I used 2 of these to make the buildings. One had gold paint on it so I used it for the windows. I cut them with the Kaisercraft buildings die. It reminds me of the glowing reflection on windows in the late afternoon. For the sky I found a piece of watercolour paper with blues on it. I…

    Masculine Altenew card

Hi crafters. I recently ordered some of the Altenew Mega letter dies as I realised I only needed 6 to cover 95% of my relatives. I thought they’d be good for some simple card designs. Today, I wanted to make a masculine card for the current Altenew challenge which is to be inspired by one of the challenges from throughout the year. It says the inspiration can be the composition, elements or texture. I didn’t want a floral focus on a card for an 80 year old male so I have chosen the May 2019 card as inspiration. This card has a beautiful, textured, stencilled background with a focal element…

    Bronze stars

Hi crafters. I made this card for the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which has a theme of stars. I started with an old kraft background which had distress oxide stamping on it which I didn’t like. I brushed over this with acrylic paints in Payne’s grey, dark blue, brown and rose gold. I went over that with crackle medium. I then sprayed with blue and charcoal sprays but I couldn’t see the cracks very well so I also rubbed silver paint across it. I stamped a Darkroom door gum tree on this and embossed with Simon says Stamp rose gold embossing powder. This came out looking like a rich…

    Muted purples

Hi crafters, I have another muted card. I decided to try colour on black paper to get a muted background. I tried distress oxides but they weren’t showing up enough even when oxidised so I tried acrylic paints. This piece has 3 purples and a navy which were roughly but thinly applied to the black paper. I stamped a Hero Arts woodblock Stamp – Starburst Lace from 2010 and silver embossed. I purple embossed a sentiment from the Hero Greetings Occasions Stamp set onto Vellum. I attached the panel to a silver card base with purple foam in between. I am entering this card in A Blog Named Hero November…
