    Muted Dandelions

Hi crafters. The current challenge at A Blog Named Hero is muted colours. I started with grey speckled paper and brushed distress oxides in top. I think this helps it looks more muted. I then stamped the piece with the Hero Arts Ocean waves bold print stamp misted with water. This gives oxides lines to suggest wind. I then used the Hero Arts woodblock Dandelion Stamp which has 2007 on it. I the delicate lines in this stamp. I first stamped it with water, the grey ink and lastly embossing ink. The grey ink was a dye ink but it mustn’t have been completely dry as it picked up some…

    Altenew Challenge

Hi crafters. The December Altenew challenge is about being inspired by one of the inspiration photos from 2019. I have chosen the February challenge. This the February photo: I was inspired by the romantic, pink flower. The shape of the foliage is also similar to the shape of the main flourish in the Baroque motif Stamp set ( if turned upside down). I was also inspired by the pale, clear background. I decided to try to make a romantic but uncluttered card. I started by stamping the large flourish on some pink pattern paper in Monarch Versafine Clair ink. I then used the matching stencil to add colour with the…

    Sparkly greetings

Hi crafters. I have another Christmas card. The background was created with paint on book paper and stencilling with paint, texture paste and home made glitter paste. I used Little Birdie stars, Tim Holtz Merry Christmas and Funky Fossil microdots stencils. I cut a few layers of scrap card with the Kaisercraft Word Baubles dies and layered these over more book paper. I then filled in the area with second hand glaze paste. The jar was unopened but it must be years old as it a bit dried up inside. It was white at first and began to clear until it was a little translucent and shiny. I covered it…

    Beaded wreath

Hi crafters. I wanted to use some beads on a card. I was thinking about stringing them on a tree when I remembered the Lil inkers Baubled Christmas wreath die. I cut this from copper mirror cardstock. I coloured some large recycled pearls with warm alcohol inks ( this hides the scratches but makes them less shiny). I also coloured some small pearl beads with alcohol ink gold mixative. The other beads are just cheap shiny plastic beads. I arranged them on the wreath die cut and photographed it. I then proceeded to sew them to the wreath with gold thread and a beading needle. I initially tried foiling the…

    Dazzle tape

Hi crafters. If you have a bling allergy, you may want to leave now! I was challenging myself to make Christmas cards with some gel press paper in pink and oranges. I had a piece left over from some other cards, which I spread the remains of some home made glitter paste on. I used the Funky Fossil micro dots stencil. I thought this looked good enough for its own card. I was wondering what I could use with it when I spied a roll of Dazzle tape that I had discovered in a shop. I don’t usually mix my metals (silver and gold), but it seemed to work with…
