    An udder birthday

Hi crafters. I created this painted background a few days ago by coating ugly pattern paper with gesso and paint. Today I created a scene with it. After all, Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is create a scene and this cow needed to graze somewhere. The cow is from Tim Holtz’ Funny Farm and the sentiment is from Taylored Expressions If cows could talk. The tree in the background is a Darkroom Door gum tree. I stamped the cow and tree in archival ink and then painted inside the cow with acrylic paints before restamping on top. I drew a bit of grass with a Fude pen. Thanks for visiting,…

    Sweet dreams

Hi crafters. The current challenge at the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is to create a scene. I needed a new baby card. I found this gel print with stars and thought it would make a good background for a sleeping fox from Funky Fossil. I coloured the fox with blue and purple alcohol markers and added some iridescent and watercolored foliage. (Paper Smooches loopy leaf and a Kaisercraft die). The sentiment is also from Funky Fossil but I customised it. Thanks for visiting, Christine

    Hey there

Hi crafters. The current Paper Smooches challenge is ‘happy things’. It may not be obvious why a kraft card is happy, but this card makes me happy. I decided to make a stitched frame with a die from the Stitch builder dies. I used a T ruler to place the die on the kraft panel. I then cut it again at a right angle, again checking with the T ruler so it didn’t get wonky. Once the frame was cut I stamped Botanicals 2 images inside the frame with ground espresso distress ink. I restamped over this to emboss the images with Hero Arts sparkle embossing powder. This sparkle has…

    CAS lemon

Hi crafters. I have a card combining a few challenges. I started with the photo for the Stamplorations April Theme and Photo challenge: I looked at the photo and what I had, and decided to make segmented flowers with white outlines like the segments of citrus in the photo. The CAS challenge has the optional theme of lemon yellow so I made lemon flowers, with white in between the segments. The background of the above photo is a dark wooden surface so I placed my flowers on dark wood paper. I started by cutting flowers from the CUTplorations Trendy Spring Blooms die set from white glitter paper. I glued these…

    E is for…

Hi crafters. The latest challenge at Simon says Stamp Monday is “E is for...”. Well in this case, E is for: embroidered embellishment, envy, extra, excitement, expressionism and of course: EXPERIMENT! It started out with ENVY over Dina Wakley’’s fantastic art which is a form of expressionism. The wild colours and trying something new caused the EXCITEMENT. It was hard to finish as I kept adding something EXTRA. The whole thing was an EXPERIMENT. I started with a piece of pattern paper that I hated, as then there is no concern about what if it doesn’t turn out. I gessoed it and scribbled in the gesso with the end of…

    Homage to Dina

Hi crafters. I needed some bright colours, so I let my inner Dina Wakley loose. I admire her bright, funky art works. I painted the background with acrylics and did some messy stencilling. I tore some masks from scrap and sponged the background with diluted white paint. I had a lot of trouble trying to do white lines. The white paint and gel pens I have are not drawing or only when I press down. (If anyone has advice on making trouble free white lines please let me know in the comments). I tried stencilling with white paint and TCW script stencil but it’s blurry. I used a Dina TCW…

    Giggle more

Hi crafters. I have a card for the Paper Smooches colour challenge. Here are the colours: I decided to stitch a card in a string art type way. I used a die from the Paper Smooches Stitch Builder set to cut 5 rows of holes . I didn’t cut all the way to the centre. I sewed with cottons in challenge colours. The sentiment from the Uplifters stamp set was embossed in white and cut with a circle die. There were gaps without stitching due to the length of each line of holes being different. I placed the circle to cover the gaps. I am also entering this card in…

    XOXO

Hi crafters. I had another smooshed background left from using the colours for the April Altenew inspiration challenge. I trimmed it and added some rose gold circles cut with the Altenew Fine Frames Circles die. I then experimented to see if I could emboss a sentiment on chunky glitter cardstock. I used a sentiment from the Story of us stamp set. I found an old jar of embossing powder similar to the pink in the challenge. I embossed it twice, and filled in a couple of missing specks with an alcohol marker. I adhered it, popped up on foam.

    Little things

Hi crafters. I wanted to make a background for the April Altenew inspiration challenge, so I played around with the colours and different media. I was trying sprays in peach and grey but I had too much grey so I smooshed some onto this panel and let it run, and sprayed it with water. I was impatient so I heated it to dry it and got extra lines as the pigment moved and dried. On another panel I tried alcohol inks on glossy card stock. This didn’t work out so well but I thought I could die cut it. I didn’t get a peach on that panel so I added…

    Texture 2

Hi crafters. I have another texture card. This time I wanted to try adding texture to pattern paper. I was given this Kaisercraft pattern paper called shutter for Christmas. I thought it would make a great masculine card. I added some tinted texture paste to it through the Clearly Besotted Diamond Lattice stencil. I sprinkled some Ranger copper and lime mixed media powders over the paste. I added more green with some Stazon stamping with the Kaisercraft diamonds stamp. I added some rusty hinge stain with a brush and rubbed ground espresso ink around the top edges. The sentiment is the Poppystamps Happy Bday Pop Culture cut out cut from green…
