    Foiled star card

Hi crafters. I wanted to try some more hotfoiling. I took a kraft 5×7 card base and used rose gold foil with the Spellbinders scattered dots pattern glimmer plate. The star was hand cut from photo paper that I had previously experimented on with spray stains. After cutting it I hotfoiled on a Universal crafts hotfoil plate with copper chocolate foil. I did some distressed foiling of the star edges with a zig glue pen and rose gold foil. The star is popped up on brown fun foam and foam tape. This was super quick to make. I like the foil on kraft. Make a wish

Hi crafters. I experimented with fabric again this week. The fabric was sprayed brown and the coated unevenly with white gesso. I stamped a Judikins woodblock stamp onto this with archival ink a couple of times. I then put stains on top to colour it but most of the stains disappeared. I added some brown brick stamping with crayon and a Prima stamp. I added yellow crayon to the inside of the window. The paper doll was coloured with crayon. The stars at the top were hotfoiled on with the Sizzix birds and stars die and silver foil. The sentiment from Tim Holtz Simple Sayings was heat embossed in silver…

    Embossed vellum

Hi crafters. CAS mix up challenge has an embossed vellum theme this month. I started by putting alcohol ink on my vellum. I added some blues and a grey plus isopropyl alcohol. I then dry embossed the vellum with a dandelion embossing folder. I was hoping the embossed bits would go white, but it was subtle. This made the dandelion a bit hard to see so I rubbed white paint over it. I tried it on white, grey and blue cardstocks and blue was the clearest. I sewed the vellum to the blue matt and glued that on the card. The white embossed sentiment is from Hero Arts Greetings Occasions…

    Typewriter sprays

Hi crafters. I decided to make a background with the Tim Holtz Alterations typeset alphabet die. This is a long die, so I could only run it in a landscape direction for a 5×7 card. I ran it through with watercolour paper until the panel was covered and then sprayed with many bright sprays. I spattered a black piece of paper with white paint and the colourful panel with black paint. I lightly stamped the MFT typewriter text background on the panel. The sentiment was foiled in orange with the Spellbinders Birthday Hugs and wishes glimmer plates. I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Sprays…

    Spray resist on fabric

Hi crafters. This card was inspired by watching the Tim Holtz demo on micro glaze. I thought I would see if it worked on fabric. I started with an ugly sample piece of upholstery fabric. On the wrong side of it I splashed on various coloured spray stains by shaking the nozzles over the fabric. The colour wicks out into the dry fabric. Then I stamped in archival jet black ink using Prima Messy writing, Offset dots and Carabelle Collage des Ronds. I then placed the Creative Expressions Abstract Triangles stencil on top and applied Distress Microglaze with a sponge blending tool. I also tried to rub this in a…

    Vintage sprays

Hi crafters. This card was inspired by watching Tim Holtz Saturday demos. The demo led me to a card by Tami Bastiaans where the background and main panel were made from canvas. This got me thinking of spraying some fabric for a background. I cut a piece of vintage-looking dress fabric and sprayed it with turquoise, blue, green and gold sprays plus a few splashes of gold acrylic paint. I sprayed it with water and then let it dry. You can see it below with some of the unstained fabric. I found that Couture Creations Die cut n bond is slightly narrower than a 5×7 card so I placed that…

    Monster explosion

Hi crafters. I have been watching some of Tim Holtz’s Saturday demos and that influenced this card. I sprayed many colours onto plastic and dipped some mixed media cardstock into the sprays. I dried that and dipped it in a couple more times. Then I dripped gold spray over the panel. I then stamped the Concord and 9th/ SSS Stamptember 2018 Monster and balloon in archival ink. I sprayed fixative over everything to try and seal it, but it still reacted with water when I added stains on top to colour the balloon and monster. I added some pencil over the stains and gold embossed a sentiment on the balloon…

    Numerical card

Hi crafters. I’ve been trying out some mixed media card stock with stains. There are 3 colours on the card: Aged Mahogany, Ground Espresso and Black Soot. I have stain daubers. I applied these to damp mixed media cardstock and held it vertically while spraying with water. I stamped over this with Stamplorations Texturized Big numbers and 49 and Market Pascale’s Formula. I embossed the big numbers in red on top and then cut the sentiment with Tim Holtz Sentiment Words Thin dies. I inlaid the letters back in with some cut from kraft scrap covered in ground espresso distress ink. I am entering this card in Simon says Stamp…

    Copper birthday

Hi crafters. I decided to use the leftover pieces from this card. I just used the copper and brown pieces. I pieced them together on scrap paper. I wanted to grunge the edges. I started with acorn archival ink and a grunge stamp but it wasn’t that visible. Then I tried black ink. I then added some grunge stamping with embossing ink and copper powder. This seemed to be the wrong colour so I ended up adding more embossing in SSS rose gold and then black. I used the 49 and market Pascale’s Formula for the black and rose gold embossing. The MFT sentiment was cut from the same brown…

    More masculine

Hi crafters. I have another card for the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is : It’s a man thing. I used some more Paper Rose industrial paper and one of their barbed wire dies. The barbed wire was layered 3 times. I was initially going to have it under the sentiment, but it made the sentiment harder to read. There is another paper in the pack with stripes, which gave me the idea for the striped sentiment. The striped paper was made by stamping the SSS diagonal stripes stamp and colouring with mustard seed and wild honey distress stains. Initially I tried an imperfectly stamped piece but it was…
