Hi crafters. This was inspired by the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge theme which is Take Flight. I started with a street directory page to which I applied some diluted white gesso.
I then added texture paste with Kaisercraft stencils Adventure and spotty. I then added a little more gesso then distress stains. I used aged mahogany and ground expresso at the bottom which morphed into a nice purple, and went through fired brick and barn door to spiced marmalade and wild honey.
I then tried to bring some more definition to the background and colour the pale patches. I tried rubbing water soluble crayons. I put a layer of clear gesso on this as I wanted to try it since Shari Carrol had it in a video. The gesso did mix the stain colours a bit but I was able to add stamping and stains on top though the distress ink stamping wasn’t drying as well as normal.
Then I thought it was just getting messy. I stamped it with the stamps in 49 and market Pascale’s formula in ground expresso, fired brick and ripe persimmon. I then tried bringing back the stencil patterns by putting the stencils back on top and daubing embossing ink through them. I then added gold embossing powder to the top and copper to the bottom. I had to do it a couple of times to get enough heat embossed area. I then stamped the sentiment with Simon says Stamp grunge alphabet and embossed it in gold.
The figure was initially traced from a stencil onto book paper and altered but I changed to printing a figure from the computer and going over that with alcohol markers. I stamped that with 49 and market Pascale’s formula and brushed super bronze PearlEx powder on it. Some of this rubbed off when I went back and outlined it with a Versamark pen and brushed the powder again. I made wings but left them off at the end.
The heart is from Rubber Moon and has distress stains including tarnished brass on it. It was glued to fun foam, edged with black marker then covered in gel gloss medium.
The figure was adhered with foam tape and glue.
