Simon says Stamp has a wild things theme this week. I am experimenting with foiling images again. I also wanted to create a dawn scene for them.
I used Spellbinders Make a Wish and Sizzix Birds and Stars dies to make stencils from scrap card. I stencilled Atelier heavy gel gloss medium through these. It is important not to let the gel ooze as it will resist watercolouring. I did this twice and second go there was still a little ooze which I lifted with a craft knife and used an eraser when it was dry to get rid of the shine and expose the paper.
Once it was dry, I sprayed the whole thing with water and dragged distress stain daubers through it. I used tattered rose, dusty concord, blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire, black soot, ground expresso, walnut stain and Forrest moss. The Forrest moss bled up into the pale bit and left a yellow halo and green threads like grass which was cool.
I ran it through the Minc machine on 3 with an extra card behind it, in a plastic transfer sleeve with blue and gold Fab foil.
The sentiment is from Simon says Stamp Uplifting Thoughts. I wanted white but sometimes white heat embossing doesn’t come out clearly on textured surfaces so I stamped with Hero Arts unicorn white pigment ink lightly a few times.
