Stitched pineapple
Hi crafters. I saw the new challenge at Paper Smooches and I couldn’t get this fabulous photo out of my head. Pink and yellow is a particularly happy combination.
I decided to stitch a pineapple. I couldn’t find a pattern which was right so I used the Paper Smooches cross stitch die and cut an area that would fit on a 5×7 card, then drew a pineapple shape and just made up the rest. I used mainly crotchet cotton and a bit of floss. I was going to stitch the pink areas of the pineapple but I thought it looked more modern and fitted with photo better to leave them pink. I thought the leaves may have been better pink or yellow, so I decided to have another go.
I copied the pattern I made for the first pineapple but added in a third colour for the leaves so they would be more distinguishable from the fruit and add some shadow. This time I went closer to the photo with pink fruit. I added a Simon says Stamp enjoy die cut layered on yellow fun foam. I cut the panel edges with scallop scissors and used double sided tape behind the stitched area to adhere it to a pink background.
I attached the first pineapple to a pink background and added a Simon says Stamp enjoy sentiment with a pink shadow. I added some gold rick rack to the sides.
I am adding my pineapples to the following challenges:
First pineapple to Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday May: Summer
Second pineapple to Paper Smooches June Challenge.
