CAS foil

Hi crafters. The current challenge at CAS mix up card challenge is to use foil. I was given this lovely Altenew Stamp by Therese Calvird at a recent card making workshop and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I have started experimenting with a standard foil quill pen. I drew the stem and leaf with this using green mirror hot foil before stamping the flower. I stamped the flower from The story of us with distress stains. I swiped stain daubers in Worn lipstick, Festive Berries and Seedless preserves on the stamp layers and stamped. I gave some colour to the stem and leaf with an Arteza woodless watercolour pencil and a waterbrush. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Catherine Pooler Tutti Frutti and Party dress ( lower half).

I am entering this card in the CAS mix up card challenge for October.

My choice is stains and watercolour.

I am also entering this card in the Simon says Stamp WCMD Challenge

Thanks Therese for the stamps.

Postscript:

This is one I have done since. The foil quill videos say you can trace stamps. I stamped these flowers first and drew the stems on copy paper. I layered the copy paper over the foil and cardstock with the flowers. This didn’t work well. I did test that the pen was hot before I started. I traced over my drawings at a slowish pace but very little foil transferred. I tried again, going slower and keeping the pen more upright but it was still patchy. I removed the drawing as I could see the marks on the foil. I went over the foil directly and that was fine. I tried adding stains to the stems but it is still too patchy for me ( I had already removed a few stray bits of foil before the photo). I am going to keep experimenting and see how I can trace with the foil.

Happy crafting

Christine

Love your card Michelle, I didn’t know anything about your method of foiling with heat foil until I read your previous email, great work! Thanks for sharing at CAS Mix Up.

What a fantastic technique that’s new to me. The foiled stem is so dramatic with the pretty flower! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!

I have never heard of a foil quill pen. How cool is that??!! Love how your foiling turned out on the stem and leaf. Beautiful flower Michelle. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
