Hi crafters. I recently ordered some of the Altenew Mega letter dies as I realised I only needed 6 to cover 95% of my relatives. I thought they’d be good for some simple card designs. Today, I wanted to make a masculine card for the current Altenew challenge which is to be inspired by one of the challenges from throughout the year. It says the inspiration can be the composition, elements or texture. I didn’t want a floral focus on a card for an 80 year old male so I have chosen the May 2019 card as inspiration.
This card has a beautiful, textured, stencilled background with a focal element popped up on top. I think texture is great on a masculine card so I used this for inspiration.
I used the Altenew cube builder stencil on black cardstock with Nuvo embellishment mousse in black ash. Before it dried, I sprinkled on some metallic embossing powder (Simon says Stamp Rose gold). I then heated it. Some mousse had dried so the powder is not uniform. When I heated it the mousse bubbled up in places, adding more texture. The embossing looks bronze or copper depending on the light.
I have been playing with crackle medium. I had a failed gel print with red and yellow on it which I covered in crackle medium. I then went over that with rose gold and Payne’s grey paints. I cut my R from this along with 2 layers of black fun foam. The background colours match the embossing of the background panel. I adhered everything to a 5×7 cardbase.
I am entering this card in the following challenge.
Happy crafting and a merry Christmas to all,
