Doodle branches

Hi crafters. I couldn’t resist stitching another card. This one is simpler and more modern. This card was made from curtain fabric samples that were in a display book. The material I used for the branches has gold thread in it so it shimmers. It is like a fake, coarse silk. I chose some warm colours and cut it with Doodle Blooms dies. The dies did not cut completely and the fabric was fraying after cutting. I then tried diecutting and then coating the back of the fabric with matt gel medium before finishing the cutting with sharp scissors. This stopped the fabric fraying, made the cut edge sharper and made them more robust. I arranged the branches on another piece of upholstery fabric and sewed them down with a sewing machine and black thread. The piece was stuck onto a card base with double sided tape and sewn around the edge with orange zig zag stitching.

The sentiment comes from the Altenew Script Words 2 die set. I cut it 3 times from cardstock and then embossed it 4 times. The initial layers of embossing were copper, but I decided gold would tie in better with the gold threads in the fabric, so it has gold embossing on top. I added some gold pearls. I love the extra texture that the fabric provides.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Beautiful Botannicals
Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Anything Goes.
Happy crafting,
Christine

Christine,
A big golden thanks to you for reaching out! I have been missing from blogland. Went home to care for my ailing dad and he actually passed away at the end of July. I am still in MI actually. Won‘t be crafting for awhile, but I enjoyed perusing your latest creations. So fresh. Keep having fun!
