Hi crafters. I’m not at peace. I don’t want to see green for a few hours! 😕
I wanted to create an Asian themed card. I wanted an olive green but I didn’t have any. I cut a smaller rectangle out of a 5×7 piece of green card with the Waffleflower lacy layers 5×7 dies. I stamped the Impression Obsession bamboo stamp on the middle piece in mowed lawn distress ink. I had to stamp a few times as the card is textured and then the stamping was darker than I hoped. If I was starting again I would try just watermark ink. I stamped the outside with the Kaisercraft calligraphy stamp in Versafine Clair green oasis. I couldn’t find a sentiment that seemed right so I used the express yourself words from Impression Obsession. I was going to have a smaller circle with the crane but I decided to use a bigger one and get the sentiment on with the bird.
I used a darker green cardstock piece and put about 4 layers of clear heat embossing on it. As I finished heating the last layer I pressed the stamps in. I had to redo it a few times and then I tried to emphasise the recesses with paint. This paint is slightly too bright. I put paint on it and carefully wiped off around it ( I must have done it about 20 times! Ughhh!) Finally it was OK, but the colour of the circle has changed compared to the small one above and it is a bit more battered and scratched. (Just adding character – LOL).
I decided to edge the bamboo piece by pressing the edges on Impression Obsession canvas stamp with the green oasis. The inner and outer rectangles just looked too much the same so I painted the outer one with Derivan gloss varnish with a bit of black soot distress stain in it.
I stained some cotton string with bundled sage distress stain and wrapped it around the middle piece. The middle is on fun foam and the circle has foam tape.
Wishing you peace crafters.
I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Monochrome.
