    Framed flower

Hi crafters. I was very excited today to discover a delivery from Memory Box. I immediately made a card with the Brilliant Sunflower die. I cut it from watercolour paper. I started putting pink and green watercolour on it but when I went looking for a tiny brush I found Daler Rowney pearlescent liquid acrylic in Moon violet. I went over my petals with this and added a little to the centre. I painted the outline and frame with gold acrylic paint. The centre and stem have some Arteza marker colour on them. I went over the stem with green marker mixed with gold paint. The leaf was painted in…

    More circles

Hi crafters. I had circles left over from the last card so I made another one. The circles were cut from a panel stamped with the Hero Arts Ocean Waves Background Stamp and coloured with Sharpies. The circles were cut with Hero Arts circle infinity dies. I placed them on red fun foam cut with the same dies. The outer circle on this card is slightly lopsided so I offset the inner circles. In between the 2 circles I stamped a circle from the Kaisercraft rewind set. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Greetings occasions stamp set which I curved a little to hug the circle better. I am…

    Bright birthday

Hi crafters. Yet another stitched card. I coloured the Hero Arts Ocean Waves bold prints Background Stamp with Sharpies. I decided to cut it with a series of Hero Arts circle dies all taped together. I also cut red fun foam with the same attached dies. I glued the pieces to the foam. I decided something between the alternate circles was needed. I used an in between circle die to dry emboss a white square card base. I used a pokey tool to make holes along the embossed line. I made mine closer than I needed and ended up not stitching every hole. I used an acrylic red yarn to…

    Glittery Gold stripes

Hi crafters. I was playing in order to create a background for this card and it turned out differently to what I was expecting. I took some black paper and put random strips of post it paper across it. I mixed some gold acrylic paint with fine gold glitter and sponged and pressed it in a swiping motion along the stripes. The glitter seemed to align flat and shiny. When I did my recent card with silver the paint obscured the glitter a lot. Maybe I had a higher glitter to paint ratio here. It may also be that this fine glitter is flat rather than gritty. I liked the…

    Orange and silver

Hi crafters. I mixed some iridescent glitter with silver paint and sponged it through the Paper Smooches Starry stencil onto an orange cardbase. The sentiment is a You Rock die cut from Paper Smooches which I cut from MFT paper and layered onto orange fun foam. Paper Smooches Sorry

Hi crafters. I thought I’d use some pattern paper. This paper is from Kaisercraft. I cut 3 of the Paper Smooches Loopy leaf die from paper as well as scrap. I edged these in alcohol marker and then Nuvo embellishment mousse in Black Ash. I used the inside of the Paper Smooches Duo die 4 to cut a background for the Paper Smooches sorry die which was cut from the same paper as the background. I edged the rectangle in mousse and added metallic gel pen shadows to the sorry word. I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Stamptember Paper Smooches collaboration challenge.

    Stitched Christmas

Hi crafters. I found some some ombré red crotchet cotton and thought it would be good for a Nordic/sweater look card. I used the Paper Smooches cross stitch die (the rectangular version here is retired but there is a square one available) on white cardstock. I made up a pattern and stitched to the middle and left a gap for the sentiment. I repeated the pattern on the other side. The sentiment was made with a Dymo labeller. I placed red fun foam under the border and matted the panel on red cardstock. I am entering this card in the following challenges: Simon says Stamp Stamptember Paper Smooches collaboration challenge.…

    Red and black Birthday

Hi crafters. This textured card was stitched using the Paper Smooches cross stitch die. ( This rectangular one is retired but there is a square one which can always be extended with multiple die cutting). I cut some black cardstock and stitched with red acrylic yarn. I don’t have any Paper Smooches stamps so I used one from Funky Fossil quick brown fox stamps. The experiment with this card was how to get a really red embossed sentiment. The top attempt is Gina K red hot embossing powder on black cardstock. The embossing looks very dark. The middle one is white embossing with red over the top. This is more…

    Inspired card

Hi crafters. The current A Blog Named Hero Challenge is about being inspired by other crafters. The card that inspired today’s card is here. Therese Calvird from lostinpaper does amazing colouring and great card designs, as well as good videos. I decided to try to do a version of the black and pink card. I stamped the Hero Arts Rose stem Stamp in Versafine onyx black onto watercolour paper. I watercoloured it with peeled paint distress reinker, Daniel Smith Rhodonite genuine and wild honey distress stain. I really like the black on black background of Therese’s card. I could have used a stamp for the background but I opted instead…

    Beaded wreath

Hi crafters. The challenge at Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is Stitch it. I have used some threads but not traditional stitching. I started with the Alexandra Renke dragonfly wreath and cut it from 2 greens. I then cut lots of leaves with Tim Holtz Funky florals 2 from scraps. I wove these into the wreaths. I then wrapped red acrylic yarn around the wreath. Next I decided the order of the star beads and then threaded them onto metallic crotchet thread. I was originally going to sew this thread through the card base but I changed my mind and just wrapped it around. I put dots of glue behind…
