    Monochrome Mechanical

Hi crafters. I had some fun with some Paper Rose products today. Their new industrial paper is awesome. It feels a bit like yupo paper. I chose this mechanical print and teamed it with their Huds Sections Metal die. I put metal tape over scrap cardboard and die cut it. I separated it into different pieces then layered each on 3 layers of scrap. I brushed over all the pieces with a black StazOn ink pad. I put a cross indent into the central small circle so it would look like a screw. The sentiment was made using the Tim Holtz Sentiment Words, Thin dies. I cut the words from…

    Stain texture card

Hi crafters. I watched the recent Tim Holtz demo on sprays. At one point he stamps with stains, which seemed like a great thing to try. I have stains mainly in daubers so I just dabbed them on a plastic mat and stamped into that. Occasionally I sprayed with water but most is just stain. I started with the Impression Obsession Canvas stamp and various brown stains onto a piece of kraft cardstock. I then used a grunge stamp with aged mahogany, ground espresso and black soot. I then stamped 49 and Market Pascale’s equations in ground espresso distress ink. The Carabelle Des Ronds was stamped in Forrest moss stain.…

    Alcohol ink masculine card

Hi crafters. Another alcohol ink card. This time I rubbed scrap silver foil over it while some bits were still sticky. I added a sentiment from The Ton cut from chunky silver glitter cardstock and green fun foam. I am entering this card in the Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Masculine. Thanks for visiting, Christine

    Ethereal alcohol

Hi crafters. While I was trying the Mindy Eggen technique for alcohol inks this morning, I made this panel. I thought I’d try some colours for the current June Altenew Inspiration Challenge. I primarily used Altenew artist marker refills in Morning Frost and Sea Glass. I tried a bit of Piñata Havana Brown but it was too orange so I wiped most off with a rag. I also added several drops of Piñata Rich gold. When it was dry I cut it with an A7 layering die and layered it on blue/teal cardstock. I also cut a frame with the Simon says Stamp A7 frames die. I haven’t cut my…

    Alcohol ink hello

Hi crafters. Are your alcohol ink pieces not turning out how you wanted? Read on. I wanted to do those beautiful alcohol ink panels others do, but they usually end up a mess. I remembered the post Mindy Eggen did on Jennifer Maguire’s channel, so yesterday I tried a mister with alcohol and a hairdryer. It still didn’t work like hers, so I rewatched the video. She used a bottle with a small outlet filled with alcohol. I had a couple of small bottles with glue in them so I emptied one. The bottle and mister are in the picture above. I misted the yupo, dropped on some alcohol and…

    Grungy anniversary

Hi crafters. Simon says Stamp has a challenge to create your own background, so I decided to grab a few things in the craft room and see what happened. The basis for the background is a piece of corrugated cardboard with the top peeled off. I put a couple of stencils on top and added some paste. As the cardboard is textured it doesn’t give a clear stencilled pattern. I the gessoed and painted it with metallic and matt paints. I rummaged in my offcuts/unused diecuts and found some cardboard that had been cut with the Tim Holtz Harlequin and the Paper Smooches cross stitch dies. The crosses are from…

    Holographic birthday

Hi crafters. I finally cleared the desk enough to play with some alcohol inks. These were some alcohol marker refills which I dropped onto yupo and misted with alcohol. I did rub some silver foil over it later but it was mostly dry so there are only a few specks. I cut the Paper Smooches Loopy Leaf die from white glitter cardstock and the Happy Birthday words die from holographic cardstock. I used the scraps from this with the Paper Smooches mini flowers dies. I adhered the happy birthday to vellum and created a shadow but it isn’t noticeable. I am entering this card in the following challenges: Paper Smooches…

    Dad

Hi crafters. I have been watching Laura Bassen and others so wonderful paper piecing with shapes and decided to try something like that. I drew a 5×7 template on scrap paper and drew lines coming out from a point. The point was measured to be the golden ratio. One line is straight through to make cutting easier. I copied the template and stacked 3 pieces of cardstock in Altenew challenge colours underneath. I put some tape around the layers and cut everything at the same time. I pieced some back together and added Altenew Mega letters cut from kraft, with ground espresso Halftone stencilling. The letters have double-sided tape in…
