Stitched Adore You

Hi crafters. I made another entry for the Altenew July Inspiration challenge. This is the challenge inspiration photo:

I started with a sample of upholstery fabric which had a nice texture. I tried stamping the stamp images with different inks but ended up using Versafine Clair Glamorous and Green Oasis as these were crisper and easier to see on the fabric and didn’t smudge with handling. I started outlining the flower images with red nylon embroidery thread and moved to floss for the rest of the flowers and leaves. I used various orange, pink and green threads, mainly in either 2 or 3 strands at a time. I used the different shades to colour in some shadows and highlights and kept filling in. I had originally planned to sew the stamens from the stamp images but decided not to. ( I might not have finished in time for the challenge end date!)

I wanted to put the panel on a 5×7 card. When I stopped sewing I placed a Waffleflower Lacey layers die on top with tape and turned the piece over and covered the back behind the die with mod podge. This meant it should fray less. It didn’t work as well on one side, but the 3 others have sharp edges. I added dots of orange stitching around the border.

I adhered the fabric panel with double sided tape. I decided not to put a sentiment on at this stage.
