Beaded wreath

Hi crafters. I wanted to use some beads on a card. I was thinking about stringing them on a tree when I remembered the Lil inkers Baubled Christmas wreath die. I cut this from copper mirror cardstock. I coloured some large recycled pearls with warm alcohol inks ( this hides the scratches but makes them less shiny). I also coloured some small pearl beads with alcohol ink gold mixative. The other beads are just cheap shiny plastic beads. I arranged them on the wreath die cut and photographed it. I then proceeded to sew them to the wreath with gold thread and a beading needle. I initially tried foiling the greeting but forgot to check my sandwich and got a hole in the gel press paper. I fixed this by cutting the Concord and 9th Holly Jolly banner from the same mirror cardstock. I spattered some metallic paint on the paper. The paper was cut with a Waffleflower 5×7 lacy layers die and I used the left over thread to sew a border using the die pin pricks. I popped up the banner with foam. The wreath was glued to the paper which had been adhered to an orange cardbase.

Since entering the card, I changed it. I undid it, stencilled on the same paints mixed with gesso over the top, added the copper spatters again and reassembled. I thought the text was a bit distracting and wasn’t covered very much by the paint. I used the Funky Fossil micro dots stencil.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Anything goes.

Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Let’s sparkle

Simon says Stamp Christmas card day challenge.

Happy crafting,
