Hi crafters. The current challenge at Simon says Stamp Monday is ‘Frame it’. This was a great opportunity to use my Simon say Stamp A7 frame dies. I cut 2 pieces of scrap cardboard with the frames and kept the outside frames. I haven’t disconnected my dies, so cutting gives me thin and thick frames. I took the 2 outer thicker frames and stencilled texture paste onto them through the Kaisercraft Tile pattern stencil. The other set of frames hadn’t fully separated as the cardboard was thick. I glued the thin and stencilled frames onto this. This layered frame was painted with gesso, then grey/brown metallic acrylic paint. I rubbed gilding paste over this later.
The background was created on watercolour paper. First I wet it, and applied various distress stain daubers. There is some stamping with Stampendous Textures and Kaisercraft Rewind stamps. I applied some pink and lilac pastes through the same Kaisercraft stencil on the right side.
I cut some Tim Holtz wildflowers from an ornate brown paper and layered a purple layer behind that. I cut the Tim Holtz adorned die from a piece of scrap plus light pink papers and layered this as well. The sentiment was cut from a discarded book, stained and glued onto the same paper as the adorned die. I glued all the layers on and let the adorned diecut spill out. I was trying to create the look of a antique, ornate frame and am pleased it worked out.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Simon says Stamp Monday challenge: Frame it.
Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Add a sentiment
