    Rose coloured glasses

Hi crafters. This journal page started with gesso and collaged pink tissue paper. I added texture paste through a botanical stencil which I cut from packaging. There are also some dots using another home made stencil. I stamped a Penny Black text stamp with Glorious Versafine Clair on top and added Lindy’s Magicals in Autumn Maple crimson and misted. The lady was cut from a postcard. There is also some soluble graphite pencil. I stamped the title with some Typo alphabet stamps. I was just experimenting with the stencils and a monochrome theme. I am entering this over at Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is not a card. Happy…

    Foiled face

Hi crafters. I tried foiling with Heidi Swapp toner ink today. The background was collaged bits with gesso and stencilling on top. This was probably not the best surface to try this on as it was uneven. I took the Dina Wakley Scribbled faces stencil and sponged the toner ink through with a makeup sponge. For the right side of the face, I drew using toner ink inside a refillable marker. I traced the Moroccan lattice pattern (Kaisercraft stencil) with the pen in places, on the left page. I then wondered how to get this through my small Minc. I put turquoise foil over it and folded the piece of…

    Song bird

Hi crafters. This paper had Dina Wakley gloss acrylics on it from the spray box. It was just a scrap printout on copy paper originally so you can still see the text. I added stencilling with paints and paste plus some spatters. The bird from Darkroom Door was stamped with Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide and heat embossed. The title was cut with dies from The Stamp Market. The bird and the hand drawn branches were fussy cut from kraft cardstock. I am entering this page in the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is ‘art journal’. Thanks for visiting, Christine

    Junk or art?

Hi crafters. This page was going to be a photo transfer but that failed so I painted over it. There are several layers of Visible Image, Stencil Girl, lettering and Michele Grant stencils. I then looked for bits to collage that might go with the background. The eye is from a book from the tip. The rest is mostly diecutting scraps from past projects. These are the inner or surrounding edges of the diecuts, i.e. the waste. The dark blue is the inner waste of a Paper Smooches happy birthday diecut. The title was cut with Tim Holtz Alphanumeric classic lower dies. Sometimes the junk has a great shape. So…

    Gold journal page

Hi crafters. Sometimes I just play with colour and pattern and see what happens. I found a spiral foam stamp at a second hand shop recently so I tried it out and joined the spirals together. I used: pink chalk paint purple paint applied to spirals with brayer gold flat sequins glued on gold metallic gel pen doodling across the background hinged gold corrugated spirals Attached with washi tape at the sides. When I finished the background, I didn’t want to cover it up too much. I couldn’t come up with a good focal point so I cut bold spirals from the gold corrugated cardboard. I hinged these and put…

    Crazy journal page

Hi crafters. I made another journal page for the Simon says Stamp Monday challenge which is ‘not a card’. I started with more paper from the spray box and added more sprays as well as Distress crackle paste using the SSS Geo leaves stencil. I found a pair of Paperdoll ladies and teamed them with a Tim Holtz Snarky Small Talk sticker. I did give one of the ladies a cross eyed look. The foliage is from Paper Smooches and I added a few glitter squares punched from scraps. I am also entering this page in the Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is anything goes. Thanks for visiting, Christine

    Stencilled journal page

Hi crafters. The current Simon says Stamp Monday challenge is ‘not a card’. I took a piece of paper out of the spray box that had brown and indigo on it and worked with that. I added copper stencilling, with paste and paint using 2 Kaisercraft stencils, and the purple stencilling with the Artplorations Happy Flowers stencil. I added a wash of gold paint in the flower centres and some typed words. I would not have thought to put these colours together, but I think it worked out. I am also entering this page in the Simon says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is anything goes. Happy Crafting, Christine

    New and old

Hi crafters. This journal page uses new and old things. The book is a 2021 diary/planner I was given, with a purple, embossed, leather cover and gold on the edges of the pages. It is lovely but I don’t write in diaries as they create an extra job to do. But I don’t mind journals, so I turned it into a journal. I have collaged scraps, unused diecuts, old book paper onto this page. It felt good to tidy up the unused bits that seem to accumulate. I applied white gesso and off white paint to the page before adding more texture with a Kaisercraft stencil and some texture paste.…

    Roll with it

Hi crafters. A while back, I did this background to experiment with colour and technique for a painting I wanted to do. I used acrylic paints and plastic dowels. The current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (Art journal) got me thinking I should finish it off as a page. I took some Kaisercraft and Sizzix dies (Stitched circles, Sketch circle and Circle mask) and cut some white watercolour paper that had some stain on one edge. I added some Winnie and Walter circle stamping and teal letters from Tim Holtz Alphanumeric Classic lower dies. This is the painting I did after the experiments. I had bought the canvas years ago…

  • Art journal

Hi crafters. After reading some art books about art journaling, and seeing the recent challenge at Simon says Stamp, I decided to try it. My journal is a recycled cookbook from the secondhand shop. It is a nice size, with a hard cover, nice paper and a ribbon bookmark. I took out several pages from each register to make room and then got to it. This picture shows some recipes through the paint at the beginning. I just kept adding layers. First acrylic paint, then stencilling and stamping. I used some scrap triangles made from cedar drawer liner cut with the Neat and Tangled hexastar cover plate die. I also…
